How To Get Rid Of Dark Circles Under Eyes

 

What Are Dark Circles?

 

Dark circles are a condition that affects many people.  Dark circles appear when blood vessels beneath your eyelids appear visible through the skin.  You see, the skin beneath your eyelids is very thin.  Certain circumstances cause blood vessels beneath your eyelids to dilate making them appear more visible through the skin.  When this happens, dark circles will appear.

 

There are many causes of dark circles. In this article, we’re going to talk about some of the major causes of dark circles and how to treat dark circles once they appear.

  • Watching TV for Long Periods of Time
  • Lack of Sleep
  • Eating Foods High in Sodium
  • Working long hours
  • Sickness
  • Genetics
  • Diet

 

Remedies

 

Now, there are remedies to treat dark circles, and we’re going to talk about some of the remedies to treat dark circles once they appear.  However, you ultimately want to address the causes of dark circles so that they don’t appear in the first place.  For example, if lack of sleep causes you to have dark circles, try to get more sleep.  With that being said, here are some remedies to treat dark circles once they already appear:

 

Remedies for Dark Circles

 

Potatoes:

 

Potatoes can be used to get rid of dark circles.  Potatoes have natural bleaching compounds in them that can brighten the skin under your eyes reducing the appearance of dark circles.

 

How to Apply:

 

1. Cut a potato into slices about 1/2 inch thick
2. Refrigerate slices for about 10 to 15 minutes
3. Place a slice over each one of your eyes
4. Leave slices over eyes for 15 minutes
5. Repeat this process 3 times a week


Green Tea Bags:

 

Green tea bags are excellent for treating dark circles.  As already mentioned, dark circles are caused by the dilation of blood vessels under your eyes.  When you put wet green tea bags over your closed eyes, the skin around your eyes will absorb the caffeine from the tea bags causing your blood vessels to become less dilated.

 

How To Apply:

 

1. Brew 2 tea bags in hot water for about 3 minutes
2. Remove tea bags from hot water and put in a refrigerator
    for 20 minutes
3. Place a tea bag over each one your eyes
4. Leave tea bag over eyes for 20 minutes
5. Repeat this process daily

 

Cucumbers:

 

Chilled cucumbers slices are great for reducing the appearance of dark circles.  Dark circles can cause swelling and puffiness underneath your eyes.  When you put chilled cucumbers slices over your closed eyes, the coldness from the chilled cucumbers will reduce the swelling and puffiness underneath your eyes.

 

How To Apply:

 

1. Cut cucumber into slices 1/4 inch thick
2. Refrigerate slices for 20 minutes
3. Place a slice over each one of your eyes
4. Leave slices over eyes for 15 minutes
5. Repeat this process daily
